The Teamsters Canada Youth Committee was invited to attend the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada at the end of June. This was a wonderful experience for each and every one of us! We are so thankful to have had the opportunity to be there.

Mainly, our goal for being there was to promote and educate Members, Delegates and guests at the Convention about the TCYC. We shared a section of the Teamsters Canada booth and handed out stickers, posters and pamphlets with information pertaining to our mission and objectives as a committee. We were very well received by people of all ages and were able to hand out information about our committee to thousands of people! Since the Convention, our TCYC Facebook page has received many friend requests, which will help us inform everyone on our whereabouts and future activities.

Another goal we had was to get informed about what happens at these conventions. What an experience it was! There were many very interesting speakers, debates and speeches. The main objective for the convention is to nominate delegates and officers for the IBT and Teamsters Canada. It also gives the opportunity for Members and Delegates from across North America to come together and celebrate this great Union. It was a very empowering week!

The Committee had the pleasure of meeting with the IBT Youth Committee: Teamsters for Tomorrow, to share ideas and stories with them.

At the moment, we are currently planning a meeting in Ottawa, in October. There are talks about joining in the CIBC run for the Cure. Please email me if you would be interested in joining the team. Nothing is set in stone as of yet, so keep an eye out for more information.
