Teamsters Local Union No. 91 recognizes the unprecedented pressures put on our Members who stand on the frontlines of the pandemic day after day.  Many lives have been put on hold during these unprecedented times, and frustrations continue to arise with each start and stop of the economy.

Despite the government programs in place, front line workers continue to endure the highest exposure rates to the Covid-19 virus.  Many workers have either no sick leave or have exhausted their sick leave due to mandatory testing, employer or health unit directives.

Local 91 supports the call for legislation to provide paid sick days to all workers.  Paid sick days will make workplaces safer - workers need the protection to avoid situations where symptomatic workers feel forced to attend work.  Ontario's COVID-19 Science Advisory Table recommends paid sick days to reduce transmission, protect the health care system and allow a safe and expedient reopening.
